Aphelandra Squarrosa, also known as Zebra Plant, is a tropical plant native to Brazil. It is known for its colourful flowers and dark green foliage deeply veined in white or yellow, reminiscent of zebra stripes, hence the common name.

They do not need to see the sun directly. But filtered sunlight through glass is fine, most homes are comprised primarily of indirect sunlight. The best spot for them is where they do not see the sun during the majority of the day, like somewhere shady outside or inside behind a window.
It thrives in bright light environment but can tolerate medium light as well. The minimum light requirement for them is 0 - 3 feet away from the nearest light source. A good bright place inside your home would be on the window sill or a stool right next to a window.
They like to be consistently moist, but not soggy. Water thoroughly when the surface of the soil is dry. It may vary depends on your environment and light condition, but it's always safer to underwater or give the soil a check before you do the watering.
They prefer a high humidity environment but can tolerate average home humidity.
Fertilize during spring and early summer can encourage flowers.
The plant comes with a default nursery pot. The nursery pot is usually 0.5" - 1" smaller than stated to fit into the same size decorative pot. Washable Paper Planter Bags are sold separately.
