Polka Dot Plant, aka Hypoestes Phyllostachya, is a lively and beautiful little plant with brightly spotted leaves that stand out especially well against other plants. The spots often merge into larger areas of colour. The Latin specific epithet phyllostachya means “with a leaf spike”.

They do not need to see the sun directly. But filtered sunlight through glass is fine. The best spot for them is where they do not see the sun during the majority of the day, like somewhere shady outside or inside behind a window.

Can tolerate low light but grow best in medium to bright light condition. A good bright place inside your home would be on the window sill or a stool that is right next to a window.

This plant likes to be consistently moist, but not soggy. Water thoroughly when the top inch of soil is dry. If you let your Fittonia dry out too much, it will let you know with limp leaves. Not to worry! After a thorough watering, the leaves should soon perk up.

They like a little bit of humidity, give them a mist every 2 - 3 days.

Grown in low light conditions are likely to have solid green leaves. If your plant isn't colourful enough, consider some direct sunlight, which should deepen the colours.

The plant comes with a default nursery pot. The nursery pot is usually 0.5" - 1" smaller than stated to fit into the same size decorative pot. Washable Paper Planter Bags are sold separately.
