Beaucarnea Recurvata, aka Ponytail Palm or the elephant's foot, is a species of plant in the family Asparagaceae, native to eastern Mexico. Despite its common name, Ponytail Palms aren’t actually palms at all, and are more closely related to lilies, but need the kind of care you’d give a cactus or succulent. With its bulbous trunk, cascading ponytail of leaves, and endearing proportions, Ponytail Palm is a cute plant that happens to be pretty low maintenance. A slow-grower that can reportedly live for decades, or even centuries.

They love direct sun, but they'll also do well in indirect light.

Ponytail Palm technically needs bright light and can tolerate full sun most of the day. However, this plant is so forgiving that it will be perfectly happy if you give it low light half the year and bright sunlight the other half. You could put it outside in the summer sun and it will tolerate any light during the winter.

They like the soil to be completely dry before the next watering. That usually takes about two weeks in an average home environment. It may vary depends on your environment and light condition, but for them, it's always safer to underwater or water when you see signs of lack of water like floppy, droop, or soft leaves. Water sparingly in the winter months.

Ponytail Palm will thrive in dry conditions. The drier the air, the better! So do not mist them or put them in an aquarium.

Your Ponytail Palm leaves are sensitive to injury and tend to get dark at the ends. Cutting back the tips of the leaves is a good way to preserve the appearance of the plant. The key is to use a sharp scissor to cut off just the discoloured parts.

The plant comes with a default nursery pot. The nursery pot is usually 0.5" - 1" smaller than stated to fit into the same size decorative pot. Washable Paper Planter Bags are sold separately.
