Gemini Season: May 21 - June 20

Philodendron Hederaceum Heartleaf

In the middle of the glorious springtime, which is primetime for houseplant parents, we find the start of Gemini season. Those that belong to this air sign are always moving forward and can bend and adjust to any environment. As someone so comfortable with changing things up, a Gemini’s flexibility allows them to have an innate sense of optimism when it comes to facing any challenge. Even though they don’t like to be tied down, they always want to make a statement, no matter the situation. The versatility of the Gemini also allows them to be comfortable being both an introvert and an extrovert, quick to read the room and adapt, staying the life of the party or existing as a wallflower. When it comes to Mother Nature, they love to observe the world around them, always looking for growth and change as that is where they thrive!

The Heartleaf Philodendron, or Philodendron Hederaceum, fits the Gemini’s personality perfectly as this plant can adapt to almost any indoor environment and it will thrive in varying light levels. The lovely, heart-shaped leaves reflect the optimism within the Gemini’s soul when facing a challenge. Additionally, the long, wide-spreading vines and huge Philodendron genus (there are over 450 known species!) mirror the Gemini’s social nature and desire to explore new ideas and spaces. The Philodendron Hederaceum, in particular, is incredibly tolerant and will not put up much fuss, accepting whatever comes its way. Its versatility, flexibility, and openness match its owner’s desires and make it a great companion piece.

Native to Central America and the Caribbean, the Heartleaf Philodendron symbolizes the love of nature and is a fantastic fit for any plant owner, whether it is your first plant or your 50th plant. When cared for properly, which doesn’t require much effort on your part, they can last for years and years, to be handed down for generations carrying special memories. In order to achieve this, just place your plant somewhere where it will receive medium to bright, indirect light and then water it when the soil is almost fully dry - waterings that are too frequent are much more detrimental than leaving the soil to dry out a bit longer. Although they will tolerate lower light levels, bright, indirect light would be best if you prefer a full, lush plant.
