The Perfect Plant for the Leo in Your Life
Leo Season: July 23 - August 22
△ Rex Begonia Dark Mambo
It’s Leo season! Leos are some of the most attractive people you’ll ever meet and their charisma naturally draws others to them. Not only do they tend to have a desirable physical exterior but this appearance is only enhanced by their bursting amount of self-confidence and attentive, loyal, and generous nature. As one of the most playful and luxury-loving Zodiac signs, they treat others how they wish to be treated and will spontaneously do kind things for them just because they feel like it. Their overall warmth and cheerfulness compliment their fiery personality and they don’t need much additional care to survive and thrive.
△ Rex Begonia Red Kiss
With such an unrelenting appetite for growth that is easily satiated by the praise of others, the Rex Begonia is perfectly fitting as they produce incredibly showy foliage. These beautiful houseplants come in a variety of colours and patterns, accentuating any style of home you might choose to bring it into. They tend to be the dominant plant when surrounded by others and are usually capture the attention of any room right of the bat, just like their Leo plant parents! This is not to be confused as trying to steal the show from a Leo but rather complementing their showy nature. Even though Rex Begonia’s may appear to be on the needier side, they tend to be fairly self-sufficient and require minimal care compared to other plants, something a Leo can appreciate fiercely given their independent nature.
△ Rex Begonia Silver
The Painted Leaf Begonia, Fancy Leaf Begonia, or Rex Begonia originated between Northeastern India to Southeast China and there are over 500 cultivars that have gained recognition. They come in varying shapes and colours but they are typically different patterns of green, red, silver, and even purple! Even though they are known to produce flowers, they are grown almost exclusively for their showy leaves. To keep your plant happy, place it somewhere where it has a large view of the sky but minimal direct sunlight, although some early morning or late afternoon sun would be just fine. Water them fully when the soil is about half dry and try to keep the humidity levels high in the room they are in.
🍄
Ensure that there is proper air circulation if you wish to mist the leaves of your plant as Begonias are prone to powdery mildew, which is a common fungus that favours humid conditions.
Feel free to look through the different varieties we have available, such as the Rex Begonia ‘Red Kiss’, ‘Spitfire’, ‘Silver’, or ‘Dark Mambo’, as they all provide a unique display.
