The Parlor Palm is one of our favourite palms and one of the best houseplants for any home as it is prized for its resilience to indoor conditions and its care being quite low maintenance. Also, since it is a slow growing palm that stays cute and compact, it often does not reach heights over 3-4 feet.

If those naturally shiny, green leaflets haven't convinced you to get one of these guys yet, the easy-care of a ZZ plant, or Zamioculcas zamiifolia, should finish the job for you! They've made a name for themselves worldwide due to their tolerance of many home conditions, especially low-light spaces. Place your plant in almost any light, then water when the soil is completely dry and you will understand why these guys are one of the best.
Drama Queen
Peace Lily
With majestic dark green foliage and white flowers, the Peace Lily, or Spathiphyllum, is an incredibly adaptable houseplant, brightening up any corner of your home. Its common name comes from the stark, white flowers that give the appearance of white peace flags! When cared for properly, they are the best and can live for years and years, flowering often. They will also explicitly tell you when it is time for some water, as their leaves droop dramatically.
NASA's Choice
Sansevieria Laurentii
The famous Snake Plant, or Mother-In-Law's Tongue, is one of the toughest houseplants you can find. Of these plants, the Sansevieria Trifsciata 'Laurentii' is one of the most popular cultivars, with its elegant, tall, green and yellow contrasting leaves. From a study conducted by NASA, this plant is known for its efficiency in cleansing the air around it of harmful chemicals and producing plenty of oxygen at night. These guys definitely deserve to be on this list of the best houseplants around.
Foliage Therapy
Pothos Marble Queen
If you are looking for the perfect trailing plant for beginners, look no further! Epipremnum aureum, or Pothos, is a popular tropical vine. Also known as Devil's Ivy, they are the ideal hanging plant for lower light spaces, just let their soil dry out! The interwoven green and white of the Marble Pothos, in particular, along with its fast-growing habit, will make any space feel lush. The Pothos is considered to be one of the best options for trailing houseplants.
Friendship Plant
Pilea Peperomioides
The Chinese Money Plant, Coin Plant, or Pilea Peperomioides, is definitely worth spending your money on. It's cute, circular leaves face towards the light it receives, which can result in an impressive wall of discs if never rotated. They enjoy even, bright, indirect light and, when happy, produce lots of little offsets, or baby plants, that can be shared with friends. With foliage like this, it’s no wonder why they are one of the best!
The Plant Influencer
Fiddle Leaf Fig
With large leaves in the shape of fiddles, it is evident where the Fiddle Leaf Fig, or Ficus Lyrata, got its name. They are used in many home decor and design magazines, making them impressive and stunning pieces to add to your home. Although they are pretty great, they can be a little temperamental! Doing their best in a stable environment, they should always be placed right next to a very bright window in your home to be happy and healthy houseplants in the years to come.
Soil Free
Air Plant
Air plants are magical, mysterious creatures. It's all in the name, but the fact that they grow soil-less, latched onto other plants, or wherever conditions permit, makes this unusual species a necessity for any houseplant parent. As long as they receive adequate light, a good soaking every week or so, and a nice bright place to dry off, your air plant will be one of the most low-maintenance plants that you own, as well as one of the best!
Baby Rubber Plant
Peperomia Obtusifolia
Small, but mighty, the Peperomia Obtusifolia, or Baby Rubber Plant, is a cute, quirky, pet-friendly plant to add to your collection! With its oversized, thick, glossy leaves, it is able to store water for longer periods of time, until they turn a bit wrinkly indicating they need some more. Although not related to an actual Rubber Plant at all, they have very similar features but in a much more compact form. Keep your plant happy and it will be clear why they are on this list of the best houseplants for any home!
