Money Tree

Money trees, aka Pachira aquatica, are considered a symbol of luck and prosperity, but they haven't been for all that long. According to Bloomscape, this doesn't date back centuries, as you might expect, but rather, to the 1980s. The braided money tree as we know it was actually first cultivated then by a truck driver in Taiwan, and quickly became popular in Japan and East Asia, also becoming associated with the Chinese practice of Feng Shui.

They do not need to see the sun directly. But filtered sunlight through glass is fine. The best spot for them is where they do not see the sun during the majority of the day, like somewhere shady outside or inside behind a window.
The minimum light requirement for them is 3 - 6 feet away from the nearest light source. A good medium-light place in your home would be in the middle of a room that has a regular size window. They can be placed anywhere between the middle of the room and the window.
They like the soil to be completely dry before the next watering. That usually takes about two weeks in an average home environment. It may vary depends on your environment and light condition, but for them, it's always safer to underwater or water when you see signs of lack of water like floppy, droop, or soft leaves.
They like a little bit of humidity, give them a mist every 2 - 3 days if you remember.
Do not overwater. Direct sunlight can lead to leaf-scorching, but the plants can do relatively well in low light. Exposure to too many drafts, though, may cause leaf loss. Heater vents and hot, dry air also need to be avoided.
The plant comes with a default nursery pot. Washable Paper Planter Bags are sold separately.
As with all living things, no two plants are alike. There is some natural variation in size, shape, and characteristics. We make every effort to bring you a plant that as closely as possible matches the plant as it appears on our website, in the size you have chosen, and have a good potential to happily grow in your home.
