Variant

Calathea Fusion White, scientifically known as Calathea lietzei, is a stunning and highly sought-after member of the prayer plant family, distinguished by its unique and vibrant leaf patterning. This plant features variegated leaves with a mix of white, green, and occasionally subtle shades of lavender. The leaves are intricately patterned with a marbling of white and green, while the undersides display a delicate purple hue, typical of many Calathea species. The 'White Fusion' is particularly admired for its delicate appearance and the dynamic movement of its leaves, which fold up in the evening as if in prayer.

What to expect

The plant comes with a default nursery pot. The nursery pot is usually 0.5" - 1" smaller than stated to fit into the same size decorative pot. Washable Paper Planter Bags are sold separately.

As with all living things, no two plants are alike. There is some natural variation in size, shape, and characteristics. We make every effort to bring you a plant that as closely as possible matches the plant as it appears on our website, in the size you have chosen, and have a good potential to happily grow in your home.

Care Guide

How to take care of Calathea White Fusion

Sun: Indirect

Calathea White Fusion should not be in a position to see the sun directly, although early morning or late evening sun is fine. Filtered sunlight through a sheer curtain is best and most homes are comprised primarily of indirect sunlight. The best spot for them is where they do not see the sun during the majority of the day but still get bright, indirect light.

Light: Medium - Bright

Calathea White Fusion will thrive in bright light, but also can tolerate medium light. A good medium-light place in your home would be in the middle of a room that has a regular size window. They can be placed anywhere between the middle of the room and the window. Remember that plants will grow based on how much light they receive.

Water: When half dry

Calathea White Fusion needs to be watered when the top half of the soil is dry to the touch. That usually takes about 1 week in an average home environment. It will vary depending on the time of year, your environment and lighting conditions, but it's always safer to underwater or give the soil a check before you water again.

Humidity: High

Calathea White Fusion likes a high humidity environment, give them a mist daily or as often as possible. Alternatively, you can put them around a humidifier. Although they won't die if they don't receive enough humidity, their leaves may have some dry, crunchy, or yellow edges.

Pet Friendly

You can feel comfortable having Calathea White Fusion around your home in the potential case where your pet feels like nibbling on it. However, we typically recommend keeping your pets from eating any of your houseplants.

Plant Story

Introducing the Calathea White Fusion, a stunningly beautiful and exotic houseplant renowned for its intricate leaf patterns and vibrant colour contrasts. This particular variety of Calathea is celebrated for its unique visual appeal, featuring leaves that are a painterly mix of green, white, and hints of lavender. The 'White Fusion' not only enhances the aesthetics of any space but also embodies the spirit of tranquillity and the complexity of nature's artistry.

The leaves of the Calathea White Fusion are truly a masterpiece. Each leaf boasts a unique pattern, almost like brush strokes on a canvas, with creamy white and green variegation accented by subtle lavender tones. The undersides of the leaves are a soft purple, adding a surprising pop of colour when the leaves curl up during the night, in response to the light changes— a phenomenon known as nyctinasty.

Caring for the Calathea White Fusion requires attention to detail, making it a perfect plant for enthusiasts who enjoy being hands-on with their botanical companions. It thrives in medium to low light conditions, away from direct sunlight, which can scorch its delicate leaves. This preference for diffused light makes it ideal for brightening up shaded areas of the home.

Moisture is crucial for this Calathea. The soil should be kept consistently damp but not waterlogged. High humidity levels mimic its native tropical environment, promoting lush growth and vibrant leaf coloration. Regular misting or a humidifier can help achieve these conditions, especially in drier climates.

Temperature consistency is also key— the Calathea White Fusion prefers a warm environment without sudden temperature changes, which can stress the plant and cause leaf curling or browning.

In addition to its visual beauty, the Calathea White Fusion serves as a natural air purifier, making it not only a delightful aesthetic choice but also a functional addition to your living space.

Welcome the Calathea White Fusion into your home and let it transform your living area into a vibrant gallery of nature’s art. It's not just a plant; it's a dynamic piece of decor, a testament to the intricate beauty of the natural world, and a daily reminder of the calm and creativity that nature can bring into our lives.
