Euphorbia Francoisii, is a rare Madagascan caudiciform treasured for its extraordinary foliage, with no two plants, or sometimes even two leaves, looking quite the same. Its leathery leaves can appear in shades of green, silver, pink, purple, cream, and near black, often decorated with colourful veins, contrasting margins, and beautifully textured edges. Growing from a swollen underground rootstock, this compact Euphorbia develops twisting branches topped with leafy rosettes, creating a miniature living sculpture whose colours and patterns can continue changing with the seasons.

What to expect

The plant comes with a default nursery pot. The nursery pot is usually 0.5" - 1" smaller than stated to fit into the same size decorative pot. Washable Paper Planter Bags are sold separately.

All of our plants are delivered by our human plant expert in person. We will send you a delivery confirmation once your delivery is scheduled. And you'll also get a text message with a tracking link when your plants are out for delivery and on arrival.

Shipping in a Box

All Provinces

All of our 7" and smaller size plants and planters are now available to ship in a box across all provinces in Canada: Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, and Saskatchewan.**

We post our mails on Mondays(or Tuesday if Monday is a holiday) using mixed carriers(Canada Post/UPS/FedEx), the cut off time is Saturday midnight, order placed after that will ship out on the Monday after, so please keep that in mind when you place your order. We do this to avoid the order sitting in a post office over the weekend, however, this may still happen from time to time. To prepare an order, we pack up the plants with great care, ensuring as much as possible that they will have a secure and smooth delivery. Once you receive your tracking link from Canada Post/UPS/FedEx, the delivery will all be based on their projected timelines.

Delivery Standards for Remote Areas

If the destination postal code is located in a remote area, and only Canada Post service the area(alternative options will shown at checkout if available), they may add up to 5 business days, in addition to the posted delivery time. Cold Weather Protection

Complimentary heat packs and insulations are included to protect your plants from cold damage if shipped in a box, if weather requires. Some stresses are expected, but with good light and proper watering, they will bounce back very soon.

Euphorbia Francoisii is all about the foliage, leaf colour, shape, veining, and even texture can vary dramatically from plant to plant and may change throughout the year. Give it plenty of warmth and bright light to encourage compact growth and stronger colouring. Plant it in a very airy, mineral rich succulent mix with excellent drainage, and avoid leaving water around its tuberous roots. Although mature plants are often displayed with their caudex raised above the soil for a bonsai like appearance, keep the rootstock buried while the plant is young; exposing it too early can limit how much larger the caudex becomes. Seed grown plants generally develop a rounder, more substantial caudex, while cuttings tend to produce thinner, more branched tuberous roots.

Sun: Direct & Indirect

Euphorbia Francoisii enjoys some direct sun, but they'll also do well in bright, indirect light. It is best to place this plant somewhere where it will receive some nice morning sun, or a couple hours of afternoon sun, and then indirect light the rest of the day.

Light: Bright

Euphorbia Francoisii will do best in bright light. A nice bright place inside your home would be on the window sill or a stool that is right next to a window, either with or without blinds, depending on if the plant can handle sun. Remember that plants will grow based on how much light they receive.

Water: When fully dry

Euphorbia Francoisii likes the soil to be completely dry before the next watering. That usually takes about 4 weeks in an average home environment. It will vary depending on the time of year, your environment and lighting conditions, but for them, it's always safer to underwater or water when you see signs of lack of water (i.e. wrinkly or soft leaves). Water a little more often in the warmer months.

Humidity: Low

Their humidity requirement is low, so do not mist Euphorbia Francoisii or put them in an enclosed terrarium.

Pet Caution

Like other Euphorbias, Euphorbia Francoisii produces a milky latex sap that can irritate the skin, eyes, and mouth and should not be ingested by pets. Keep it away from animals that tend to chew houseplants, and wear gloves when pruning, propagating, or handling damaged stems or roots.
