ZZ Midori

Introducing the ZZ Midori, a compact and polished houseplant that celebrates steadiness, simplicity, and quiet confidence. With its dense upright form and glossy dark green foliage, it symbolizes grounded strength — a reminder that slow growth can still create a beautifully full presence.

Known botanically as Zamioculcas zamiifolia ‘Midori’ and also registered under the cultivar name ‘ZAM202201,’ this distinctive ZZ cultivar was discovered in the Netherlands in 2020. It is valued for its smaller, more compact habit and its tendency to form dense, upright clumps.

Its thick, glossy leaflets are broadly oval, more rounded than those of many traditional ZZ plants, and held closely together along upright stems. The foliage points upward, creating a neat, structured silhouette with a rich dark green finish that feels both modern and timeless.

Slow-growing and naturally tidy, ZZ Midori is especially well suited to desks, shelves, smaller rooms, and interiors where a compact plant is preferred. Like other ZZ plants, it is wonderfully adaptable, tolerating lower-light conditions while growing best in bright, indirect light. Allow the soil to dry thoroughly between waterings, as its thick underground rhizomes are designed to store moisture.

Refined, resilient, and effortlessly composed, this cultivar offers all the dependable appeal of a classic ZZ plant in a denser, more compact form. Its closely arranged foliage reminds us that fullness does not always come from growing quickly — sometimes it comes from growing steadily and intentionally.

Welcome the ZZ Midori into your home, and let it inspire you with its symbolism of patience, resilience, and quiet stability. It’s not just a plant; it’s a reminder that slow, steady growth can still create something beautifully complete.
