A plant may be sought after for unusual foliage, a distinctive cultivar or a less familiar growth form. Availability also varies between places and over time. This collection brings together rare and unusual-looking plants; the label does not mean every variety is scarce everywhere or difficult to grow.

Some are. An unusual appearance does not automatically mean demanding care. For example, Dracaena Marginata Flat Weave offers a sculptural shape with adaptable care, while Monstera Albo needs a suitable bright spot and closer attention to its variegated foliage. Compare the care information for the individual plant before choosing.

There is no single light requirement for this collection. Monstera Albo suits bright, indirect light, while Euphorbia Ammak can take some direct sun. Good light supports variegated growth, but extra sun does not guarantee more colour and can scorch sensitive leaves. Follow the specific plant's light guidance rather than treating all unusual plants alike.

Check the variety, selected size, light needs, watering guidance and what is included with the plant. Think about its eventual shape as well as its current appearance: a climbing plant, a trailing vine and an upright specimen need different space. Compare care needs too; a succulent that dries fully between waterings will not share the routine of a moisture-loving tropical plant.
